Day 17 – 33 Day Challenge

Todays prompt, Artwork featuring your favourite brand. Well I knew I’d have to use Mr Barry M, his polishes never fail to amaze me. Well apart from the one texture disaster which we aren’t going to mention. So that bit was decided upon, but artwork?!! Really?!! Oh dear…..

Day 7 – 33 Day Challenge

My god, day 7 and I haven’t yet given up!! Very proud of myself and what I’ve achieved so far (ignoring that erm tape mani!!). Today’s prompt ‘artwork featuring your oldest untried’.

This was super tricky as I have so many untrieds, I have no clue which one has been lurking around there for the longest! I know that the Glitzology polishes that I purchased a while ago were quite old but I wasn’t really sure on how to get that into nail art. Then I happened to read Nailasaurus’ blog and it occurred to me, skittle mani!! I love her skittle mani’s so decided to give it a go. And I managed to knock LOADS off my untrieds at the same time!!

Color Club – pucci-licious! with Glitzology All or Nothing

I’ve still got a couple of Glitzology polishes in my untried stash and I will use them despite the fact that she has vanished off the face of the earth and still hasn’t reappeared yet. Her facebook page is full of people wanting their money back. I was very lucky to get mine when I did I think! I decided therefore to do a cheeky little gradient using the Color Club as my base colour.

Glitzology Crown Royal

Decided to use another of my glitzology polishes last night. However the biggest surprise of the evening was the undies I used! During the winter Next sale I picked up a make up set which had this polish in. Didn’t think much of it but as crown royal had gold flakes I thought I’d use this.

The formula was fantastic, really easy to use and was a one coater with hardly any brush strokes! I was very very impressed and will use this again!

Unfortunately the glitzology polish let me down a little again. This time before I used it I put in a little thinner to see if that would help with the application of it. It didn’t and with my current shorter nails was a nightmare to use!

There is some holographic gold circle glitter which sparkle nicely together with the purple glitters.

Not sure how I feel about this mani. Couple of very poor close ups for you.

I’ve used 2 of the 7 polishes so far and I’ve been a bit meh about both. I hope this isn’t the case and time will tell, but I hope these aren’t polishes that look better in the bottle than my nails……..

Glitzology Baby Dragon

So I was very excited to try this polish as this was the one that caught my eye first.

20130218-171742.jpg

I decided to layer this over OPI Plum and Get It. I really love this shimmery polish which is opaque within 2 coats.

20130218-171922.jpg

Baby Dragon itself was VERY thick, almost to the point of being unmanageable. I put on 2 coats but I may have got away with 1.

20130218-172031.jpg

I used a coat of glitter food and 2 coats of top coat and it still wasn’t smooth. Still feels a little bumpy now, but I wasn’t prepared to put another coat on.

In artificial light this sparkles, so imagine what it was like in natural sun light!

So pretty!!

I have 6 others of these to try and may add a little thinner to see if that helps with it use, however I think probably not as they are complete glitter bombs!!

What do you think?

Glitzology Polishes

Well these arrived today after a lengthy wait from the USA. Well I say arrived today, I collected them after having to pay the £12 customs and handling fee. Doh!

20130216-142021.jpg

Don’t they look good! I’m a complete sucker for glitter and I just couldn’t resist these!

The cupcake oil I’ve tried already and it does smell like cupcakes to begin with. I’ve had it on a couple of hours and now it smells more like the wax I use on my car. It’s not a bad thing. It’s a good reminder I should be out there cleaning the ole girl up! Poor thing is disgusting.

It’s quite thick and not a lot comes out on the brush, but I don’t think a lot is needed. This is going to become my work desk oil so I’ll have a better idea how it stands the test of time in due course. At the moment though my cuticles look good.

Now I just need to go and work out how much my customs fee on a recent extortionate Shoppe Electico order is going to be……..
